2012 Calendar

So, after a successful first full year of open events the calendar for 2012 has been released.

After taking note of peoples view at the AGM and across the year we have revised where we are off to this year and will hopefully see a very well represented season.

2012 also will see the first European championships for the RS100 (We have delayed the ISAF class submission till the next ISAF meeting, as we didn’t quite reach the required numbers of boats that we thought we would).

RS100 UK Training- 19th & 20th Feb 2011, Datchet Water SC

05/01/2011 1 comment

A big warm welcome for 2011 to all RS100 sailors and our other readers.  This season is going to be truly awesome, building on the very successful foundations of our first year in 2010.

We’ve already made a bit of an impact at the Grafham Grand Prix.  Well in fairness Paul Childs did, I completely sucked and looked slow and couldn’t read a downwind angle for toffee… but Paul did us all proud, securing 3rd in the Fast Asymmetric Fleet- not bad for a newbie in his Dad’s boat!  A worthy mention must also go to Simon Childs who took second in his Phantom in the singlehanded fleet.

To kick start the official UK Class Association season, there’s some RS Owners Association training arranged with Mark Rushall (the coach who literally wrote the DVD for the RS100).  This will be held on February 19th/20th at Datchet Water SC.

To book your place, please contact Debbie Darling.  Please note this only open to Class Association members.

To make the most of the training, we are recommending that you familiarise yourselves with the techniques examined in the Smart RS DVD- available for only £4.99 + postage from LDC.

RS100 wins Sailing World’s “Sailboat of the Year” Award

Well done to RS Sailing for winning another award for the RS100, this time the RS100 takes the much coveted Sailing World “Sailboat of the Year” Award.

Quoting Dave Reed, the Editor of Sailing World:

Other builders have tried to design the ultimate singlehanded dinghy with an asymmetric spinnaker, which is a challenge given the need for one sailor to handle a lot of sail-control systems; But over two years of prototype development, the engineers at RS Sailing refined every little detail of this boat, and it shows. It’s an impressively technical 14-footer designed by and for avid performance sailors.

RS France is displaying an RS100 at the prestigious Salon Nautique de Paris between 4th and 12th December 2010. RS France are already well on the way to making a great name for themselves within the RS100 sailing community, hosting an exceptional first-ever European Championship in St Raphael earlier this year in September.

This is the first time that RS have displayed boats at the Paris Boatshow.

You can find out more about RS France or arrange a test sail in an RS100 by following this link:

*my apologies to our French readers for the title of this thread. I hope the grammar and syntax are okay. Unfortunately there’s a limit to what one can do with Google Translate and a basic UK education in the French language!

Sincères salutations,
